Description : Tree, 10–40 m high; bark greyish-brown, fissured and lenticellate, with prominent leaf scars. Leaves 10.5–26 by 8-25 cm; petioles 3–9.5 cm long, subterete, glabrous; leaflets 4–6, opposite or subopposite, elongate-lanceolate or oblong-ovate, terminal one elliptic-lanceolate, 2–13.5 by 1.5–4.5 cm, apex caudate or acuminate-caudate, base obtuse or rounded, decurrent into petiolules, entire or subentire, glabrous, shining above, lateral nerves 11–18 per side, oblique, with shorter intermediate nerves, venation reticulate; petiolules 2–7 mm long, slightly winged, glabrous. Panicles lax, drooping, 10–29 cm long. Flowers yellowish or greenish, scented; calyx-lobes ovate or rounded, ca 1 mm, glabrous; petals oblong or obovate, 1.5–2 by 1 mm, glabrous, margin revolute; filaments 0.5–2 mm long; anthers oblong-ovoid, ca 1 mm long; disc cup-shaped; ovary ovoid, glabrous. Drupes orbicular or ovoid, 0.6–1 cm in diam., beaked, compressed, glabrous, rugose.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Mai.


Distribution : India, Myanmar, China, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malesia, Japan, (Ryukyus), Taiwan.


Ecology : In lower montane evergreen forests, on open slopes, 900–2,200 m alt.


Vernacular : Hakkai (ฮักไก่)(Chiang Mai); kado ling (กะดอลิง), sadao chang (สะเดาช้าง)(Loei); kaen mo (แกนมอ)(Phetchabun); makok kiam (มะกอกเกี้ยม)(Prachuap Khiri Khan); makkak khao (มักกักเขา)(Trat).


Main
