Description : Tree, 10 m high; young parts rusty velvety tomentose, then glabrescent, with numerous linear lenticels. Leaves: petioles up to 17 cm long; leaflets green, drying reddish-grown, 47 by 25.5 cm; petioles pulvinate lenticellate, ca 19.5 cm; rachis with adaxial grooves, puberulent, 34 cm; leaflets 5–6 pairs, oblong-lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, 8.5–13 by 2–5 cm, lateral ones larger than terminal, apex acuminate, base obliquely truncate or rounded, terminal leaflet with cuneate base; margins denticulate, chartaceous, glabrous or puberulous above with pubescent midribs, pale, densely velvety rusty tomentose below, lateral nerves 18–21 per side, arched; petiolules tomentose, laterals 0.1–0.3 cm, terminal ones 2–8 cm. Panicles rusty tomentose, 22–31 by 8–11 cm, peduncles much branched, bearing compact clusters of flowers; bracts linear lanceolate, villous tomentose, 0.5–2 by 0.2–0.3 cm; floral buds globose; pedicels 0.3 mm, usually obsolete. Flowers: calyx crateriform, 1 by 12 mm, lobes ovate, 0.5 mm, glabrate; petals oblong, 0.8 by 0.5 mm; disc flat; filaments 0.5 mm, anthers oblong, 0.6 by 0.3 mm. Drupe subglobose, 5–6 mm in diam., minutely pubescent, irregularly dehiscent at maturity.
Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Mai (Doi Chiang Dao – type: Kerr 5605).
Distribution : Endemic.
Ecology : Open lowland montane evergreen forests, ca 1,300 m alt. Flowering: June.
Vernacular : Som phot khon (ส้มผดขน)(Chiang Mai).
