Description: Scandent shrubs. Thorns absent. Leaves distichous; blade oblong or oblong-elliptic, oblong-lanceolate, 4–19 by 2.8–7 cm, base obtuse or round, margins entire, apex acute, glabrous on both surfaces; petiole 0.7–1 cm long, glabrous. Inflorescences axillary, of short racemes, 1.5–2.5 cm long; peduncles 2–5 mm long, puberulent; bracts lanceolate, 1–2 mm by 1 mm, pubescent, caducous. Flowers subsessile. Calyx cupular, margins 4–5 dentate, 1.5–2 mm long, puberulent, accrescent. Petal white or cream, 3, lanceolate-oblong, 2 petals divided into 2 deep lobes, 1–1.3 cm long, thin, apex incurved, glabrous. Stamens 3; filaments flat, glabrous; anthers oblong, 1.5–2 mm long; staminodes 5–6, bifid. Disk cupular, inconspicuous. Ovary superior, ovoid, 1.8–2 mm long; style slender, 0.7–1 cm long; stigma minutely 3-lobed. Fruits orange, globose, 1.7–2.5 cm diam., accrescent calyx enclosing nearly the entire drupe.

Distribution: Widespread in tropical Asia, Hainan, Taiwan, to New Guinea, Solomon Island and Micronesia. In Deciduous to evergreen forests, low altitudes.
