Description: Shrub 0.5-2 m tall, monoecious, branches angled; stipules lanceolate, ca 1 mm. Leaves alternate, densely distichous; blade lanceolate, 3-5 mm long; base oblique; apex apiculate; secondary nerves 3-4 each side; petiole very short. Inflorescences axillary, along proximal part of branchlets, 1-flowered in glomerule. Staminate flowers: sepals 4, ovate, ca 0.5 mm, entire; disc glands 4, orbicular; stamens 4, filaments connate at base; pistillode absent; pedicels 2-4 mm long. Pistillate flowers: sepals 6, ovate, ca. 1.5 mm, entire; disc cup-shaped, apex sinuate; ovary glabrous; styles 3, bifid, 0.2-0.3 mm; pedicels ca 2 mm. Capsules globose, 4-7 mm in diam., 3-valved; fruiting pedicels to ca 3 mm. Seeds 2 per locule, 3-angled, ca 2.5 mm, covered with rufous fibrils.

 

 

Distribution: S China, Indochina, N, NE, E and C Thailand, forest margin, river bank, to 50–700 m.
