Description: Shrub; thorns small or wanting; branches pubescent. Leaves obovate-oblong, oblong, lanceolate to linear, 10–32 cm, glabrous; base acute; apex acuminate; nerves 8–10 pairs or more in linear leaves; petiole 5–8 mm. Inflorescence terminal, racemose, 8–32 cm long; rachis sparsely velvet-hairy; many-flowered; bracts subulate, 1.5–2 mm long, sparsely velvet-hairy; pedicels 1–2.5 cm. Sepals 4, elliptic or ovate, 3.5–4 by 2–2.5 mm, outer two concave, margin thin, sparsely pubescent outside. Petals 2 pairs, imbricate, creamy white, ovate to oblong; anterior pair slightly smaller, 5 by 2 mm, truncate, puberulous towards the base. Stamens 12–18, about twice as long as the gynophore. Gynophore 6–11 mm, glabrous, slightly longer in fruit. Ovary 1-loculed, ovoid, ca 2 by 1 mm, glabrous. Fruits a berry, globose, 5–9 mm in diam, red when ripe; stipe 2–2.5 cm long. Seeds 1 or 2, 4–5 mm.

 

Distribution: Distributed from India, S China, Myanmar, Laos. In Thailand recorded from Kanchanaburi and Chiang Rai (Doi Tung), dry evergreen and montane forests; 700–1,250 m.
