Description: Prostrate shrub ca 60 cm long; rhizome present. Leaves opposite to subopposite, rarely alternate; sparsely to densely pubescent; base rounded or cordate; apex emarginated, obtuse or acuminate; blade chartaceous, ovate to elliptic, 1.8–5 by 1.2–2.6 cm, upper surface glabrous with slightly puberulous on midvein, lower surface pilose with whitish finely verruculose; secondary veins 4–7 on each side, forming loops; domatia flattened funnels with tufts of hairs; petiole 1–3 mm long. Inflorescences terminal, spike, 1.5–2 cm long; bracts oblong to lanceolate, 2–3 by 1–1.3 mm, apex acuminate, pubescent. Flowers 10–20, flower bud puberulous, with 2–3 mm long receptacle; calyx tube 0.8–1.5 cm long, slightly expanded at the apex, puberulous to glabrous; calyx lobes 5, triangular, ca 2 mm by 0.5 mm, reflexed; petals 5, sparsely pubescent, white, turning pink to red, oblong to oblanceolate, 0.7–2 by 0.3–0.6 cm, apex rounded to obtuse, slightly twist or revolute. Stamens 10, arranged in two rows, ca 2 mm long; filaments attached in tube, ca 2 mm below the base of calyx lobed; anthers versatile, pale yellow. Ovary inferior, 1-locule, ovule 2; style slender, yellow, adnate to the inner wall of calyx tube; stigma inconspicuous, pale yellow. Fruits not seen.

 

Distribution: Endemic to Thailand, recorded from Uttaradit, Phichit, Suphan Buri, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Common in floodlpain, at low altitudes. Flowering: July–August.
