Description: Tree to 12 m tall, lenticellate, branchlets 4-angled, young branches hairy. Leaves with 3–5 leaflets, decussate; petiole 1.5–5 cm long; leaflets elliptic, ovate, obovate, to oblong, 2–10 cm; apex acute to cuspidate; base acute; margin sub-entire or serrate; secondary veins 12–24 on each side; midvein with sparse hairs or glands; petiolules 0–1.5 cm. Inflorescence a panicle-cyme, 2–10 cm long, hairy; bracts spatulate, 1–5 cm long; peduncle 1–2 cm long; bracteoles lanceolate to subulate, 1.5–2 mm long. Calyx campanulate; tube 2–3 mm long; lobes 5, hairy, triangular, 1–1.5 mm long, accrescent in fruit. Corolla infundibuliform, bilabiate, creamy-pinkish purple; tube 2.5–3.5 mm long, hairy inside; upper lip 2-lobed, lobes triangular, 1–1.5 mm long; lower lip 3-lobed, inside yellow at base; lobes ovate-rounded, 1.5–2.5, the lower one larger. Stamens didynamous, inserted in middle part of tube; filaments with long whitish hairs at base, short ones 1–2 mm long, long ones 2–2.5 mm long; anthers 2-lobed, divaricate above, blackish, 0.5–1 mm long. Ovary superior, subglobose; style filiform, 2-3 mm long; stigma bifid. Fruits a drupe, globose, 2–5 mm in diameter. Seeds 2-4. |
