Description: Climber, stem with straight or curved small thorns. Stipules pinnate with 3-5 leaflets, to 2 cm. Leaves bipinnate; rhachis 30-50 cm, with short thorns; pinnae 3-9 pairs; leaflets 8-12 pairs, opposite or subopposite, the junction with a pairs of small thorns, ovate-oblong, 2-4 x 1-2 cm, apex acute or rounded with mucronulate tip, unequal at base, petiolues ca 0.8 mm. Inflorescences racemose, sometime branched, some with male flowers and some with female flowers; flowers yellow; pedicels 4-6 mm, pubescent, jointed near the top; bracts linear, 0.6-1.2 cm, recurved, lately caducous. Calyx 5, subequal, brownish pubescent. Petals 5; standard 1-1.2 cm, constricted at the middle, with reddish patches and pubescent inside; upper and lateral lobes spathulate, slightly shorter than the standard. Stamens 10, free, subequal; filaments hairy. Ovary ca 1 mm with short stalk, hairy and bristly. Pods elliptic, 5-8 x 4 cm, with 7-9 mm long bristles, dark brown when dry. Stalk 0.5-1 cm above receptacle. Seeds 2, subglobose, 1.5-2 cm in diam., greyish.

 

 

 

Distribution: Distributed in tropical regions, in Thailand more common in the peninsular, usually in beach forest. Seeds poisonous, used as medicine, mainly for antipyretic.
