Description: Shrubs to 1 m tall, stems 4-angled, glabrous. Leaves opposite, anisophyllous; blade elliptic to ovate; large pair to 13 cm long, secondary veins 5–7 on each side; apex acuminate; base broadly cuneate or slightly cordate, oblique; margin serrate; petioles 0.1–3.4 cm. Panicle terminal, to 10 cm; peduncle to 3 cm; rachis slender, repeatedly 3-forked and bent to ca. 90º; bracts and bracteoles subulate, ca 1 mm, caducous; flowers 1 per node. Calyx 5, 4–6 mm, slightly accrescent in fruit; lobes oblong to oblong-lanceolate with one slightly longer than others, apex emarginate. Corolla white, funnel-shaped, 3.2–4 cm; tube basally cylindric, slightly ventricose and gradually widened to ca 1.5 cm at mouth; lobes ovate, ca 5 × 5 mm, apex acute. Stamens included; filaments shorter pair ca 0.5 mm, longer pair 4–5 mm; anther thecae spherical, ca 1 mm in diam., partially recurved. Ovary 2-locular, glabrous; style 2.5–3.2 mm; stima 2-cleft with one branch longer. Capsule oblong, ca 1.5 cm, retinaculate, apex acuminate. Seeds 4, ovate, flattened, ca 2 mm long, puberulent, mucilaginous.

 

Distribution: S China (Yunnan) and northern Thailand in Chiang Mai (Doi Inthanon, Mae On) and Kamphaengphet, Khlong Lan), shaded and near stream in montane forest, 800–1,400 m.
