Description: Tendrilled shrub to ca 2 m tall; reddish hairy on young branches, nerves below, petioles, racemes, bracts, pedicels and buds. Stipules small, lanceolate. Leaves ovate, 5–6 mm long, bifid more than half; base deeply cordate; nerves 7–9; petioles 2–4 cm long. Racemes unbranched, to 20 cm long; bracts filiform, ca 5 mm long; bracteoles shorter, inserted below the middle of the pedicel. Flower buds fusiform, 4–5 mm long, apex with 5 free calyx teeth. Receptacle short. Calyx oblong, ca 2 mm long, reflexed. Petals yellow green, short-clawed; lobes lanceolate, 2 lobes 4–5 mm long, 3 lobes ca 3 mm long. Stamens 3 fertile; filaments 3–4 mm long; anthers elliptic, ca 1 mm long. Ovary glabrous with short stipe, attached lateral to the yellow disc; style 1–2 mm long; stigma obscure. Pods oblong, 3–6 cm long, flattened, thin-valved, beaked. Seeds 2–3, flattened, 6–7 mm in diam.

 

 

Distribution: Distributed in Indochina, northeast and east Thailand, common in deciduous dipterocarp forest, 200–800 m.

Thai name: เสี้ยวแดง (sio daeng)
