Primulaceae

Description: Herbs, stem prostrate, pilose, rooting at nodes. Leaves opposite, crowded, usually 2 pairs, ovate to broadly ovate, 1–4.5 cm long; apex and base acute to obtuse; blade hairy, glandular; petiole 0.5–2 cm long; secondary nerves 2–4 on each side. Inflorescences racemos, terminal, congested, each with 2–4 flowers; pedicels short. Calyx 5; lobes almost to base, lanceolate, 5–8.5 mm long. Corolla yellow, orange at base, tube 2–3 mm long; lobes 5, ovate to oblong, 7–9 mm long, glandular. Stamens 5; filaments connate for ca 2.5 mm, free parts 2.5–4.5 mm long; anthers shorter than filaments, opening by lateral slits. Ovary pubescent; style 5–7 mm; stigma capitate. Capsule subglobose, 3–4 mm in diam.

 

Distribution: India, Nepal, Bhutan, S China, Myanmar, Vietnam and northern Thailand, scattered in savannah and forest margins, to ca 1,200 m.
