Description: Epiphytic climber; indumentum puberulent to pubescent on twigs, lower leave, pedicels, calyx and corolla outside. Leaves opposie, elliptic to rounded, 1–5 cm long; apex acute to acuminate or rounded with apiculate tip; base obtuse to subcordate; blade fleshy, secondary nerves not obviously; petioles 1–5 mm. Inflorescences axillary, mostly 1–2-flowered, peduncle short; bracts ovate, 5–6 mm long; pedicels 0.7–1.4 cm long. Calyx tubular, 1.3–2 cm long; lobes 5, triangular, greenish brown-green. Corolla zygomorphic, tube 4.7–5.8 cm long, bright red outside, with yellow patches and sparsely sessile glands inside; 2 upper lobes 0.6–1 cm long, lobes 2.5–6.5 mm long; lateral lobes deltoid, 0.7–1 cm long; lower one slightly longer. Stamens unequal in 2 pairs, inserted in tube; outer pairs with 2.2–2.4 cm long filaments; inner pairs slightly shorter; staminode minute. Disc annular. Pistil puberulent and glandular hairs; stipe 1.8–2.8 cm long; ovary 1.4–2.8 cm long; style 0.6–1.5 cm long. Capsules 19–35 cm long. Seeds many, minute, papillose; apical appendage and hilar appendage 6–8 mm long.

 

Distribution: Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra Java, Borneo and peninsular Thailand, usually on tree trunks in evergreen forest, 100–900 m.
