Description: Herb, much branched, 10–30 tall; branches quadrangular, glabrous. Leaves simple, opposite, elliptic or ovate, to ca 2.5 cm long; apex acute; base attenuate; petioles sessile. Inflorescences corymbose, terminal or axillary, short; flowers usually 5-merous; pedicels 1.5–3.5 cm long. Calyx deeply divided; lobes elliptic, 4–5 mm long; apex acute. Corolla nearly free, white with purple veins; lobes ovate, 0.7–1.3 cm long, apex acute; margins slightly inflexed; glands 2 at base inside lobes, surrounded by 0.7 mm long hairs, except at base. Stamens inserted at corolla lobes; filaments linear, 3–5 mm long, widen toward base; anthers ovate, ca 1 mm long. Disc absent. Ovary superior, 1-locular, sessile, small, elliptic, ovules numerous; style subsessile; stigma bilobed. Capsules oblong; 5–8.5 mm long. Seeds small, numerous.

 

Distribution: Endemic to northern Thailand, recorded from Doi Inthanion and Doi Chiang Dao in Chiang Mai, scattered in open savannah and limestone hills; 2,000–2,100 m.
