Description: Deciduous tree to 40 m tall; leaves alternate, obovate to obovate-oblong, 15–25 cm long; apex rounded obtuse with acute tip or retuse; base acute, obtuse, rounded or shallowly cordate; blade densely hirsute below; nerves 25–35 each side. Flowers 2–4 on short side branch with several small bracts, open flower 5–7 cm diameter; pedicel 0.5–6 cm long. Sepal 5, ovate, 1.2–1.8 cm lomg, densely hirsute outside. Petals 5, yellow, spathulate, 2.5–3.5 cm long, caducous. Stamens numerous, 2 whorls; outer ones many, 5–7 mm long, curved; inner ones 11–16, 1.2–1.5 cm long, reflexed. Fruits fresh, indehiscent, subglobose, c 2 cm diam including sepals, orangish when ripe.

Distribution: Myanmar, N & SW Thailand, in mixed deciduous and deciduous dipterocarp forests, 250–1,100 m.
