Description: Erect herb, grass-like, 10–30 cm tall, branched, glabrous with some hairs at nodes, latex clear, tuber globose, 1.5–2 cm diam, roots to c. 10 long. Leaves opposite, linear, 3.5–7 cm long; apex acute; base attenuate; subsessile. Inflorescence a single-flowered cyme; bract 1, subulate, c. 1 mm long; peduncle c. 0.8–1 cm long, glabrous; pedicel 4–8 mm long. Sepals 5, linear-lanceolate, 7–8 mm long. Corolla forms an awl-like; tube 1.–1.2 cm long, apically constricted, hairy inside; lobes linear-subulate, 4–5.5 cm long, nearly completely contorted, greenish-cream to brown, margins of lobes ciliate with clavate head; basal auriculate, reflexed, velvetly purple-black. Gynostegium with corona on short stipe; corona c. 4 mm high, reddish purplish, outer lobes c. 0.6–0.7 mm. long, emarginate, inside hairy, outside glabrous; inner lobes glabrous, recurved, c. 3–3.5 mm. long. Anthers overtopping the style-head, c. 0.5 mm long; pollinia yellow. Carpels glabrous. Follicles and seeds unknown.

 

 

Distribution: Known only from the type locality in Phuwua, Buengkan, upper northeastern Thailand, scattered in open grassland, edges of dry evergreen forest, ca 300 m.
