Description: Epiphytic shrub with hanging stems, to c. 30 cm long, most vegetative parts with dense long hairs. Leaves opposite, rarely in whorls of 3, elliptic, ovate or oblong, 0.6–3.5 cm long; apex acute to apiculate; base cuneate to rounded; blade coriaceous, glabrous above; secondary nerves insible; petioles c. 1 mm. Inflorescences axillary with 1 flower; pedicels c. 1 cm long. Calyx lobes 5, free to base, lobes lanceolate, hairy; 3–5.5 mm. Corolla zygomorphic, tubular, reddish on lobes inside, tube and outside lobes pinkish, hairy outside, c. 2–3 cm long, lobes 5; limb distinctly 2-lobed, 3–5 mm long; 2 lateral lobes deltoid, reflexed, 2–4 mm long, lower lobe oblong, reflexed, 5–10 mm long. Stamens 4, in 2 pairs, exerted; filments inserted in the tube, c. half above the base, anterior pairs to c. 2 cm long, posterior pairs c. 1.5 cm long; anthers 2–2.5 mm long; staminode 1, c. 0.6 mm long. Disk anular, to c. 3 mm high, irregular. Ovary to c. 3 cm long, including stipe c. 5 mm long and style, glabrous to sparsely pubescent; stigma peltate. Capsule narrowly, 9–15 cm long. Seeds many, narrowly thin, warty, c. 1 mm long, appendage both ended, filiform, to c. 2 cm long.

 

Distribution: India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, S China (Yunnan), N Vietnam and SW Thailand. Rather rare in Thailand, recorded from Thung Yai Naresuan, Kancanaburi, in mixed deciduous forest, ca 200 m.
