Description: Shrub 1–3 m tall, leaves beneath and twigs densely lepidote, young leaves and twigs villous. Leaves simple, alternate, obovate or oblong, 3–5 cm long; apex acute; base cuneate; blade coriaceous, leaves below papillous between scales; petioles 0.2–0.7 cm long. Inflorescences short racemose, axillary near the end of branches with 2–5 flowers; pedicels 0.3–0.7 cm long. Flowers 5-merous; sepals obscurely lobed, small; petals funnelform, white-pinkish, 5–7 cm long, pubescent outside; buds pinkish-red outside. Stamens 10, subequal, longest ones ca 3 cm long, inserted or slightly exerted, filaments villous on lower parts; anther oblong, ca 0.5 cm long. Ovary 6-locular, lepidote also on style below; style slightly longer than stamens; stigma disc like. Capsule cylindrical, 0.5–1 cm long, densely lepidote. Seeds numerous. | | | |
Distribution: India, S China, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, N & NE Thailand, common in open limestone cleffs, or slope in open pine forest and montane forest, 1,600–2,200 m.
