Description: Shrub or epiphytic shrub, 1–3 m tall. young part with sparsely setose; lepidote on petioles, pedicels, ovary and capsules. Leaves simple, alternate, obovate or oblong, 6–10 cm long; apex short acuminate; base gradually tapering to the base; blade densely golden scales; petioles 0.5–1 cm. Inflorescences short racemose, terminal, with 1–5 flowers; pedicels short. Flowers 5 merous; calyx disc like, ciliate; corolla funnel-campanulate, 5–6.5 cm long, white with a large yellow spot inside, corolla tube 2–4 cm long, margins irregular crenate. Stamens 10, slightly shorter than corolla; filaments pubescent at base. Ovary tapering into style. Capsule cylindrical, to ca 3 cm long; seeds small, many. | | | |
Distribution: Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and northern Thailand, recorded from Chiang Mai (Doi Inthanon, Doi Suthep, Doi Chiang Dao), on tree or open areas in montane forest, 1,300–2,500 m.
