Description: Shrubs with long creeping branches to ca 10 m long; branches with stout prickles, curved, to 4 mm tall. Stipules adnate to petioles, 1.5–2.5 long. Leaves pinnate, alternate, 8–17 cm include petioles. Leaflets 5–9, ovate-oblong to lanceolate, 2.5–4.5 cm long; apex acute to acuminate; base rounded or broadly cuneate; blade pubescent below; margin serrate. Inflorescences terminal, corymbose paniculate or umbel-like. Flowers fragrant, 2.5–3.5 cm in diam; pedicels 1.5–3 cm, densely pubescent and glandular-pubescent. Hypanthium ovoid. Sepals 5, ovate-lanceolate, villous and glandular-pubescent; margin irregular lobed. Petals 5, imbricate, white, obovate; apex emarginate. Stamens many, adnate to the disc. Carpels many on a convex receptacle. Styles connate into a column, exserted, as long as stamens, densely villous. Hip ellipsoid or ovoid, red, 1–1.5 × 0.8–1 cm; sepals reflexed, deciduous; achnenes many.

 

 

Distribution: S China, N Vietnam and N Thailand, recorded from Doi Chiang Dao, ChiamhMai, open limestone hills, 1,800–2,200 m.
