Description: Climber, to 30 m long with white sap. Leaves simple, alternate, peltate, ovate to rounded, 7–30 cm long; apex acuminate or cuspidate; base obtuse or rounded; blade glabrous; secondary nerves 7–10 pairs; petiole to ca 20 cm long. Inflorescences axillary, corymbose, to 40 cm long; peduncles 5–15 cm long. Flowers many; bracts minute, deciduous; pedicels 1.5–2.5 cm, thickened above. Sepals 5, subequal, obtuse, mucronulate; outer 3 ovate, 1.8–2.5 cm; inner 2 ovate-oblong, thinner. Corolla funnelform, 4–6 cm long, shallowly lobed. Stamens 5, alternate to corolla lobes, lower part hairy, included; filaments filiform; anthers twisted; pistil filiform, stima 2 lobes. Ovary 4 locular, glabrous. Capsule ovoid, 2.5–3 cm long. Seeds 4, trigonous, 0.6–0.8 cm long, densely yellowish brown hairs.

 

Distribution: E Africa, Madagascar, Andamans, Malesia, Philippines, New Guinea, Pacific Islands and Australia. In Thailand recorded from Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phuket and Narathiwa, edges of evergreen forest, rather rare.
