Description: Tree up to 40 m tall, buttresses to 2 m tall. Leaves paripinnate, rachis 2–5 cm, petioles 1.5–4 cm; leaflets 2–3 pairs, asymatric, ovate or obovate, 5–18 cm long; apex and base rounded; blade glabrous; petiolules 0.2–0.8 cm. Inflorescences racemose, terminal or lateral, 5–10 cm long, peduncle ca 1 cm long. Pedicels 0.7–1.2 cm. Receptacle as the same length as sepals. Sepals elliptic, greenish, 0.8–1 cm long. Petal 1, white, turning pink or red; claw ca 0.5 cm long; lamina 0.7–1 x 1–1.5 cm. Fertile stamens 3, ca 3 cm long; anther ca 0.2 cm long; staminodes 4–7, to 1 cm long. Ovary shortly stipitate, pubescent; style pubescent at base, ca 4 cm long. Pods oblong to lanceolate, 8.5–25 cm long. Seeds up to to 8, orbicular, flat, 2–3.5 cm in diam.

 

Distribution: Madagascar, S India, lower Myanmar, S Vietnam, Malesia, Australia. In Thailand found in the southeast and peninsular, in peat swamp, mangrove and coastal forestsม, to 600 m.
