Description: Climber, stem puberulous. Leaves alternate, entire or 3–lobed, broadly ovate, 11–12 cm long; lobes less than half the length, lateral lobes obtuse; apex acute, acuminate or obtuse; base cordate; lamina pubescent and gland-dotted on both sides; veins palmately 3-nerved; petiole 3.5–5 cm. Inflorescences panicle cyme, axillary, 6 cm long, puberulous; bracts ovate, ca 0.1 cm; pedicels 0.6–0.7 cm; flowers later dense, creamy green, brownish purple or reddish brown on limb; utricle globose or ovoid, 0.4–0.8 cm; tube 0.8–1.6 cm, slightly bent upwards; limb oblong or spathulate, 1.3–1.8 cm; pedicels 0.6–0.7 cm. Stamens 6, adnate to style forming a gynostemium, ca 0.2 cm; ovary 0.6–0.8 cm, densely pubescent; stigma 6-lobed, conical. Fruit ovoid, 4–4.5 by 2.5–3 cm; pedicel 5–6 cm. Seeds triangular-obcordate, thin, winged, 7.5–8 by 6.7–7 mm, verrucose on one side.

 

 

Distribution: Indochina and Thailand, common on limestones, in mixed deciduous, deciduous dipterocap and dry evergreen forests or savannas, 100–400 m.
