Description: Shrub, 1–2 m tall; nodes bearing brownish hairs. Stipule acicular, ca 3 mm long. Leaves opposite, thin, elliptic to oblong, 10–15 cm long; apex acuminate; base acute; lateral nerves 7–9 pairs, main nerves arching ca 0.5–1.2 cm from margin; petioles 0.2–0.7 cm long, sulcate. Inflorescences racemmose, terminal or axillary, to 11 cm long; pedicels 0.2–0.5 cm long; bracts and bracteoles persistent, minute, ciliate. Sepals imbricate, elliptic, obtuse, ca 2–3 mm long. Petals oblong, ca 1 cm. Stamens 10, in two whorls, outer whorl longer and curved; filaments 5–7 mm long; anthers ca 3–5 mm. Ovary ovate, ca 2–3 mm long; styles 3, free, filiform, ca 1 cm long, persistent. Fruits schizocarp, 3 mericarps, sometimes 1–2 developed; mericarps with dorsal crest, reticulate, ca 1–1.5 cm long.

 

Distribution: Endemic to Thailand, recorded from Khao Nakha, Trang, on small limestone hill, ca 50 m. Previously determined as B. anastomosans Craib which has yellow flowers.
