Description: Rhizomatous dioecious perennial herb with fibrous remains of leaf sheaths at base; culms erect and pendulous to 60 cm long. Leaves many, linear, v-shaped in cross-section. Inflorescences narrowly paniculate, 3.5–7 cm long; bracts leaf like exceeding the inflorescence, to 37 cm long. Spikelets 3–11, similar in male and female, narrowly cylindric, 2–2.7 cm long with 7–9 sterile glumes on the prophyll and lowest, other glumes fertile; glumes ovate, 3.5–4 mm long. Perianth bristles 7, shorter in femal flowers, unequal; stamens 3, anther yellowish white; stigma 3, reddish brown. Nutlets smooth. | | | |
Distribution: Endemic to Peninsular Thailand, known only from Khao Sok, Surat Thani, on limestone cliffs, sunny places, ca 100 m.
