Description: Climber to ca 5 m long. Leaves trifoliate, alternate; petioles 4–8 cm long; blade oblanceolate, 8–13 x 3–5 cm, petiolules 0.3–0.5 cm. Inflorescences terminal or axillary, paniculate, 15–30 cm long. Flowers 6 merous. Sepals free, in two whorls, lobes lanceolate, greenish, tomentose, 3 inner ones smaller, 3–4.5 mm long. Petals ca 3 times shorter than the sepals, white, pubescent, lobes ca 1.5 x 0.8 mm, claws minute. Stamens ca 15, in three whorls, filiform, outer whorl shorter than the two inners; anthers bilocular, elliptic. Ovary globose, pubescent; gynophore present; style filiform, to 2 mm; stigma 3, very short. Fruits freshy, triangular, ca 0.5 cm long.

Notes:   The genus Neothorelia has unusual number of sepals and petals of 6, which are usually 4 in Capparaceae.

 

Distribution: Laos (Luang Phrabang) and Thailand, recorded from Loei, Kanchanaburi (Thung Yai Naresuan), Ubon Ratchathani and Prachuap Khiri Khan (Kui Buri), mixed deciduous and dry evergreen forests at low altitudes.
