Description: Habit perennial, erect herb 3–4 m; rhizome short creeping. Pseudostem tomentose, 2.5–5 cm diameters; petiole puberulent, ca 0.5 cm long. Lamina oblong-elliptic, glabrous on both surfaces, dark green above, green or purple below, 50–60 x 12–15 cm; tip shortly acuminate; base rounded; margin hyaline; midrib puberulent below. Inflorescences 7–8 cm long, crown 10–11 cm in diameters; peduncle erect, c 40–75 long; bracts oblong to narrowly obovate, puberulent, apex rounded to truncate, reddish. Calyx strigose, white. Petal oblong, ca 1.8 x 0.3 cm; corolla tube strigose, white, 2.3–2.5 x 0.3 cm; labellum upright, reddish with white edge, rolled outward, throat white, 1.6–2.5 x 1–1.4 cm. Filament white. Stigma triangular, pale violet; style filiform, white. Ovary glabrous. Fruit a capsule, 3 locules, ovoid, mostly upright, glabrous, glossy, white turning orange-red, ca 3.3–4 x 1.5 cm.

Distribution: Upper Peninsular Malaysia and lower Peninsular Thailand (Songkla, Satun, Yala, Narathiwat Provinces), shady and swampy areas in evergreen forest, 200–500 m.
