Description: Shrub to ca 1 m. tall. Leave opposite, elliptic, light green above, pale green below, 1.5–2.5 x 0.5–1 cm; base and apex acute; margin entire; petioles ca 1 mm. Inflorescence terminal, spicate, gradually elongate to ca 5 cm, almost glabrous. Flowers 4–5 merous, tubular, subsessile, yellow. Calyx tube sparsely hairy, 0.7–1 cm long; lobes ovate, 1–2 mm long. Petals none. Stamens 10, in two series; filaments ca 0.2 mm; anthers ca 1 mm long. Ovary elliptic, hairy at top, 2–3 mm long; style 1, subsessile; stigma globose, minute. Fruits dry ca 5 x 2 mm; seeds ellipsoid, ca 3 x 1 mm.

 

 

Distribution: S China (Yunnan), Vietnam and northern Thailand, recorded from Doi Huamot, Umphang, Tak Province, locally abundant in open savanna limestone hill, 900–1,000 m.
