Description: Small tree 8–10 m tall, low branching. Bark smooth, dark brown with greyish green patch. Indumentum dark brown shortly fine tomentose; densely on young twigs, petioles, midrib, inflorescences, bract outside, calyx outside, fruits; sparsely on leave beneath, nerves both surfaces. Twigs fine corky reticulate, lenticellate. Leaves oblong to lanceolate or slightly ovate-lanceolate, dark green, pale dull green below, apex acute to acuminate; base cordate, slightly unequal, 6–20 x 3.5–7 cm; secondary nerves 12–20 pairs; petioles 0.3–0.5 cm, very stout. Inflorescences psuedo-axillary, peduncle 1–1.5 cm long, with few flowers, stout; flowers almost sessile, bracteolate; bracts ovate, c. 0.5–0.8 cm; calyx ovate, up to 1 cm long; outer petals elliptic, white, up to 4 cm long; inner petals ovate, purplish pink, c. 1.5 cm, united; stamen numerous, connectives truncate; carpels numerous. Ripe carpels 10–16, almost sessile, wrinkle when dry, each fruit c. 2–2.5 x 1.5 cm.

 

Distribution: Endemic to Thailand, known only from Prachuap Khiri Khan (Huai Yang Falls), locally common in partly open limestone hills, dry evergreen forest, 100–150 m.
