Description: Tuberous undershrub, irregularly branched due to eaten by cattle. Indumentum pale multicellular, unbranched hairs, sparse on vegetative parts. Leaves obovate, 2–6.5 x 0.5–1.5 cm; apex acute; base attenuate; margin apically serrate; triplinerve, secondary nerve 2–3 pairs, arched forming loop; basal blade margin with small cup-shaped sessile glands; petiole 2–3 mm. Inflorescences terminal, solitary, 2–2.5 cm long, 1 pistillate flower below, to 10 staminate flowers on top; bracts triangular. Staminate flowers: sepal ca 2 x 1 mm; petals same size as sepals, margin ciliate-lanate; disc small, lobed; receptacle pilose; stamens 10–20, pilose in lower part; pistillode absent. Pistillate flowers: sepals ca 5 x 2 mm; ovary truncate on top, ca 2 mm; style column, 1–2 mm long; stigmas 3 apically bifid, persistent, c. 2 mm; pedicel 3–5 mm. Schizocarp truncate, 5–6 x 6–7 mm. Seeds 3, subglobose, glabrous with small brownish caruncle, triangular in cross section, brownish when dry, c. 3.5 x 3 mm.

 

 

 

Distribution: Laos and NE Thailand, recorded from Sakon Nakhon and Nong Khai, common in open grassy or cultivated areas, ca 200 m.
