Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Mai (Doi Inthanon).

Distribution : Sumatra, Java (type).

Ecology : Known only on Doi Inthanon, on humus-rich mountain slopes in dense mossy forests at about 2,200 m alt.

Notes: This is similar to the rather variable Polystichum mucronifolium C.Presl on the higher mountains of Java and Sumatra. Additional collections may bridge the difference between it and P. tenggerense.
