Description : Perennial herb; stems twining or trailing, sparsely pubescent. Stipules ovate, ovatelanceolate or lanceolate, 2–3 by 1–1.5 mm, apex acute, base shortly bilobed, margin entire, outside and along margin sparsely pubescent, inside glabrous, persistent. Leaves: petioles 2–7 cm long, sparsely pubescent, with pulvinus; rachis 0.6–1.5 cm long, sparsely pubescent. Leaflets elliptic, ovate, ovate-lanceolate or oblong, 3.5–9.5 by 1.2–4.5 cm, apex acute, obtuse, rounded, truncate or retuse and apiculate, base obtuse, rounded, cuneate or truncate, margin entire, both surfaces pubescent; lateral veins 4–7 pairs; petiolules 2–3 mm long, densely pubescent; stipels elliptic or oblong, 1–2 by 0.5–1 mm, apex acute, glabrescent or sparsely pubescent along margin. Inflorescence axillary, 3–8-fascicled, arranged in nodose-pseudoracemes; peduncles 3–28 cm long, glabrous to glabrescent; axis 1–3 cm long, sparsely to densely pubescent; bracts ovate-lanceolate, 1.5–2 mm long. Flowers 1 in each fascicle, yellow; pedicels 2.5–6 mm long, densely pubescent; bracteoles appressed to base of calyx tube ovate-lanceolate, 1.5–2 by 0.5 mm, apex acute, base truncate, margin entire, outside sparsely pubescent, inside glabrous, caducous. Calyx: tube ca 3 by 4–5 mm; upper lobes connate; lower lobes deltoid, the lowest lobe 2–2.5 by 1 mm, apex acute, lateral lobes ca 1.5 by 1.5–2 mm, apex acute, glabrescent to sparsely pubescent both sides. Corolla: standard yellow, reniform, 1.2–1.5 by 1.5–2 cm, inside near base with 2 callosities, apex emarginate or retuse, base with 2 small auricles, 0.5–1 mm long, claw white, 2–3 mm long; wings yellow, obovate, 1.2–1.4 by 0.6–0.8 cm, apex rounded or obtuse, near base with 2 opposite small appendages, 1–1.5 mm long, claw white, 2–2.5 mm long; keel greenish yellow, boat-shaped, 1–1.3 by 0.5–0.7 cm, incurved upward to shortly beak, apex truncate, near base with 1 small appendage, ca 1 mm long, claw white, 2.5–3 mm long. Stamens: filaments white, 1–1.5 cm long; anthers yellow, suborbicular or oblong, ca 0.8 mm long. Pistil 1.5–1.8 cm long; ovary light green, linear, densely pubescent; style often twisted. Pods slightly compressed, linear or oblong, 4–6.5 by 0.4–0.6 cm, pubescent, with short apical beak, base stipitate, ca 2 mm long; fruit stalk 5–6 mm long, densely pubescent. Seeds 5–9, young seeds green with dark brown dots, dry seeds brown with black dots, shiny, ellipsoid, 4–5 by 2–3 mm.

Distribution : Africa, Madagascar, Israel, Syria, Yemen, India, Sri Lanka, China, Japan, Taiwan, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, New Guinea, Australia, America.
Ecology : Open or disturbed areas, waste ground, near swamps, canals or seashore; 0–300 m alt. Flowering and fruiting: August–May.
Vernacular : Thua phi (ถั่วผี)(Bangkok, Prachuap Khiri Khan).
