Description : Climber; indumentum pubescent and glandular throughout. Stipules lanceolate, persistent. Leaves: petioles 3–5 cm long, grooved; rachis up to 2 cm long. Leaflets: petiolules 1.5–2 mm long, hairy and glandular; blade ±3-lobed, rhomboid to deltoid in terminal leaflets, as long as wide or wider than long, 2–5 by 4–5 cm; terminal leaflet slightly larger than lateral ones, chartaceous, apex acute to acuminate, base rounded or cuneate, sometimes almost truncate, oblique in lateral leaflets, margin entire, both surfaces sparsely pubescent with dense sessile glands; lateral veins 3–4 pairs; stipels minute, ca 1 mm long, caducous. Pseudoracemes or pseudopanicles axillary and terminal, up to 10 cm long, laxly up to 10-flowered, with 1–2 flowers per node; bracts ovate, ca 1 mm long, caducous; pedicels up to 10 mm long, hairy and glandular. Calyx: tube 3–4 mm long; lobes lanceolate to triangular, apex acuminate, margin hairy, outside densely pubescent and glandular, inside glabrous; upper lobes connate, slightly separate at tip, ca 2 mm long; middle lobe of lower lobes longest, 5–9 mm long. Corolla yellow, standard obovate or orbicular, 15–16 by 12–13 mm, apex emarginate, base auriculate, basal callosities present, margin entire, both sides glabrous, claw 2–3 mm long; wings oblong-obovate, 10–12 by 4–5 mm, 2-sided auriculate, with short dorsal and long ventral auricles, long one ca 2 mm long, apex obtuse, margin entire, both sides glabrous, claw 2–3 mm long; keel strongly curved, 12–13 by 3–5 mm, apex obtuse, margin entire, both sides glabrous, a lateral pocket at lower part, claw ca 3 mm long. Stamens: staminal tube 15–17 mm long, glabrous; filaments 7–8 mm long; anthers ca 0.5 by 0.3 mm. Ovary densely pubescent and glandular, shortly stipitate; style 17–19 mm long, glabrous, hairy at base; stigma oblique. Pods laterally compressed, 3–5 by 0.7–0.9 cm, pubescent and glandular with sessile glands. Seeds 4–7, subquadrangular, 3–4 by 3–3.5 cm.

Distribution : India, Myanmar, Korea, Japan (type), Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines.


Ecology : Probably escape from cultivation.


Vernacular : Khrang khon (ครั้งขน).
