Description : Herb 50–120 cm tall, leaning with upright inflorescence. Leaf sheaths ca 3 bladeless, sparsely pubescent, green or light brown at basal sheaths; ligule bilobed, round, ca 4 mm long, glabrous; blades 8–14, elliptic to ovate, 6.5–19 by 1.5–5 cm, glabrous above, pubescent below, base obliquely obtuse, apex acuminate; sessile. Inflorescence conical, 5.5–16 by 4–5 cm; peduncle 1.5–2 cm long; rachis pubescent, plain green; bracts and bracteoles caducous, elliptic, 1–3 by 0.5–1 mm, pubescent, yellowish green; cincinni lax; pedicel 1–3 mm long. Flower 2.8–3.5 cm, yellowish orange; ovary cylindrical, ca 3.5 mm long (⚥), ridged; calyx indundibuliform, 4–6 mm long, trilobed with acuminate apices and pubescent margins, yellowish green; floral tube 1.5–1.6 cm long, with glandular hairs, dorsal and lateral corolla lobes elliptic, 5–9 by 1–3 mm, dorsal lobe with 1.5–2 mm long mucro at apex; lateral staminodes linear, 0. 8–1.1 by 0.1 cm, apex acuminate, slightly longer than lateral corolla lobes, glandular hairs; labellum obtriangular, 5.5–7.5 by 5.5–7 mm, without spot, base attenuate, long decurrent on filament, 3–5 mm long, corniculate at tip, ca 2 mm long or sometimes shorter in ⚥ flowers, apex round to acute; nectar tube 3–5 mm long; filament ca 2.4 cm; anther elliptic, ca 1.5 mm long, connective tissue, crest and appendages orange, semitranslucent, crest ca 1 mm long at tip, appendages 2, ⚥ appendages falcate, ca 2.5 mm long, held ± perpendicular to anthers, base covering whole side of anther, apex abruptly acuminate and curved upward, margins parallel at base, upper margin straight or slightly curved, lower margin strongly curved to apex, ♂ anthers without crest, appendages falcate narrower than ⚥, ca 4 mm long, held at ca 45° to anthers, base covering nearly whole side of anther, apex acuminate, slightly curved, margins parallel almost to apex. Fruit ellipsoid, ca 2.3 by 0.7 cm, longitudinally ridged, green. Bulbils produced at peduncle, fusiform, 1–4 cm long, tissue corky, rarely produced.


Thailand : SOUTH-WESTERN: Ratchaburi (Suan Phueng), Phetchaburi (Kaeng Krachan), Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin); PENINSULAR: Surat Thani (Ban Na San), Phangnga (Thap Put), Krabi (Khao Phanom Bencha), Nakhon Si Thammarat (Khao Luang), Phatthalung (Khao Pu Khao Ya NP), Trang (Huai Yot – type: Pooma et al. 5635, holotype -BKF, isotype -E).


Distribution : Malaysia (Kelantan – type of Globba albiflora var. aurea).


Ecology : Lithophyte, usually found on limestone, 10–1,830 m alt.


Vernacular : Hong Newman (หงส์นิวแมน).
