Description : Woody climber to 30 m high. Twigs glabrous, lenticellate. Leaves subcoriaceous, occasionally glaucous below, oblong-elliptic to oblanceolate, 6–13 by 3–6 cm, ca 2 times as long as wide, base rounded to cuneate, apex acute to acuminate, the acumen 6–10 mm long, glabrous except for scattered hairs along midrib below, secondary veins 11–15 per side, tertiary venation reticulate; petioles 5–7 mm long, with scattered hairs. Inflorescences axillary, peduncle ca 3 mm long, pedicel diverging obliquely from the peduncle, green in vivo, pedicels 6.5–16 mm long, with 1 ovate bract 1–5.5 mm long attached at or just below the pedicel midpoint. Sepals reflexed, broadly ovate, 3.5–7 mm long, sparsely pubescent, obtuse. Petals greenish yellow to yellow, chartaceous, narrowly oblong-lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, venation plane with surface and indistinct, densely pubescent on both surfaces; outer petals 26–39 by 6.5–13 mm, obtuse; inner petals 17–36 by 4–10 mm, obtuse, with basal claw 3–5 mm wide. Stamens oblong, 0.8–1.3 mm long, anther connective apex truncate, glabrous. Carpels with ovaries 0.6–1.4 mm long, pubescent, stigmas clavate or cylindrical, glabrous. Fruit of up to 25 monocarps borne on a pedicel 9–16 mm long and 1.2–1.9 mm thick at midpoint, sepals persistent. Monocarps red, moniliform, 3.7–3.9 by 0.3–0.8 cm, segments ellipsoid (6.2–8.1 by 5–6.2 mm), smooth, glabrous, apex with a distinct beak, base contracted into a slender stipe 10–22 by 0.9–2 mm. Seeds up to 3(–5), oblong-ellipsoid, 6–12 by 4–7 mm.
Thailand : PENINSULAR: Yala (Bannang Sata), Narathiwat.
Distribution : Peninsular Malaysia (type), Singapore, Borneo.
Ecology : Tropical rain forests, 500 m alt. Fruiting: February.
Notes: The flower description is based on material from Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore. The secondary venation of the leaves is indistinct in this species, an easy way to distinguish it from other Thai Desmos species.
