Description : Tree to 25 m tall. Young branches sparsely pubescent, becoming glabrous. Leaves papyraceous to subcoriaceous, elliptic or oblong, 10.5–35.5 by 3.5–12 cm, base (broadly) cuneate, apex acute or acuminate, glabrous below, midrib prominent above, secondary veins (9–)11–14(–18) pairs, tertiary and higher order venation distinctly prominent above; petioles 7–15.5 mm long. Inflorescences on twigs or older branches, 1–4-flowered, pedicels 3.5–7 mm long, pedicel bracts 1–1.5 by 1–1.5 mm. Sepals free, 4.5–7 by 4.5–7 mm. Petals oblong, recurved. Outer petals 12–45 by 3.5–8(–11.5) mm above constriction, 4.5–7 mm wide below constriction. Inner petals (11–)16–32(–46) by 2.5–6.5 mm above constriction. Stamens 66–68 per flower, 1.5–2.6 mm long. Carpel glabrous; ovules 14–19, 2–3-seriate. Receptacle shortly conical. Monocarp red, cylindrical with conspicuous constrictions between seeds, 4.4–8.3 by 2.8–4.4 cm, sessile; pericarp 2.5–4.1 mm thick when dried. Seeds 2–3-seriate, 11–15 per monocarp, 22–30.5 by 14.5–19.5 mm.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Nakhon Sawan; SOUTH-WESTERN: Kanchanaburi, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan; SOUTH-EASTERN: Trat; PENINSULAR: Songkhla.


Distribution : Myanmar (type).


Ecology : Dry evergreen and bamboo forests, over limestone, 300–600(–1,000) m alt. Flowering: February–July; fruiting: February–November.


Vernacular : Dam mit (ด้ามมีด).
