Description : Small shrubs or scandent shrubs; young branches subterete, bark smooth, greenish, glabrous; older branches subterete, bark smooth, brownish to grey. Stipules triangular, acute to acuminate, connate at base, usually persistent. Leaves elliptic, lanceolate, oblong or fiddle-like shaped, 3−11.5 by 1−3.5 cm, base cuneate, margin entire, apex acute or acuminate, membranaceous, light green above, greenish beneath, glabrous on both surfaces, drying dark brown, lateral veins 5−8 pairs, venation obscure; petiole 2−7 mm long, glabrous. Inflorescences solitary capitula; peduncle at anthesis sessile or up to 2 mm long. Flowers 5−6-merous, fragrant, bisexual; heterostylous. Calyx tube basally connate, glabrous, lobes obtuse or triangular. Corolla salver-shaped, white or greenish; tube 0.7−1 cm long, inside with sparse and short hairs, outside glabrous, lobes oblong, 1.5−2.5 by 5.5−7 mm. Stamens included or exserted in corolla tube, attached to tube by short filament; filaments linear, 1−4 mm long; anthers white or yellowish grey, oblong, 2−3 mm long. Ovary 2-locular; style white, 4−7 mm long in brevistylous flower, 0.8−1.2 cm long in longistylous flower, glabrous stigma bilobed, 2−3 mm long, included or exserted in the corolla tube. Infructescences subglobose or oblique, glabrous, with 15−35 fruitlets, greenish. Seeds ellipsoid or ovoid, 3−5 by 5−7 mm.

Distribution : Indochina (Cambodia – type).
Ecology : In dry evergreen and deciduous dipterocarp forests, streamsides, 100−270 m alt. Flowering: January−June.
Vernacular : Yo bia (ยอเบี้ย)(Si Sa Ket).
