Description : Annual herbs 10–70 cm tall; stems erect, quadrangular, fringed on ribs. Stipules adnate with petiole, sheath linear, dark brown colleter attach at sinus of leaves and stipules. Leaves elliptic or elliptic-lanceolate, (8–)15–40 by (2.5–)4–12(–15) mm, base acute, apex acute, chartaceous, pubescent on both surface, lateral veins 2 pairs, inconspicuous; sessile. Inflorescences terminal, branched cymose, ultimate branch a monochasial cyme; peduncle glabrous. Flowers white or pink, tubular; pedicel 4–15 mm long, glabrous. Calyx connate at base; lobes ovate-lanceolate, 0.6–1 mm long, apex acute, glabrous, sinus somewhat 1–2 colleters. Corolla tube 1–1.5 mm long; lobes ovate-lanceolate, ca 1 mm long, apex acute, outside glabrous, inside pubescent between middle and mouth of corolla tube. Stamens: filaments 0.4–0.5 mm long, glabrous; anthers oblong, 0.3–0.5 mm long. Ovary pubescent; style 1.3–1.5 mm long, glabrous; stigma 0.7–0.8 mm long. Capsules septicidally and then loculicidally dehiscent, spheroidal, 1.5–2 by 1.5–2 mm, pubescent. Seeds 14–20 per locule, 0.3–0.4 by 0.2–0.35 mm.
Thailand : NORTHERN: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai (Doi Suthep-Pui NP), Chiang Rai, Phitsanulok (Thung Salang Luang NP); NORTH-EASTERN: Sakon Nakhon (Phu Phan NP); EASTERN: Nakhon Ratchasima (Khao Yai NP); CENTRAL: Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok (Sarika Falls, Khao Yai NP); SOUTH-EASTERN: Trat (Ko Chang, Khao Saming); PENINSULAR: Ranong (Kapoe), Krabi (Khlong Thom), Trang, Songkhla.
Distribution : India, Andaman Islands, Myanmar (type), Vietnam, Malay Peninsula (type of Oldenlandia rosea), Borneo.
Ecology : Grass fields, open places, to 700 m alt. Flowering: August–April.
Vernacular : Ya foi fon (หญ้าฝอยฝน).
