Description : Stems obtuse angular in young branch or round in old branch, glabrous, glabrescent or puberulent under node. Stipules sheath truncate, with 1 caudate lobe, keeled at caudate apex, sheath glabrous. Leaves narrowly elliptic, elliptic, ovate-lanceolate, or lanceolate, 5–11 by 1.5–4 cm, base rounded, acute, or attenuate, apex acuminate or acute, glabrous on both surfaces, lateral veins 3–5 pairs, inconspicuous; petiole sessile or up to 5 mm long, glabrous. Inflorescences terminal thyrses, paniculate, 4–7 cm long, 3–6 cm wide; ultimate branch umbellate with numerous flowers; peduncle 1–4 cm long, glabrous. Flowers white, tubular; pedicel 1–2 mm long. Calyx tube 0.5–1 mm long; lobes narrowly deltoid, 0.5–1 by 0.3–0.5 mm, apex acute, erect, glabrous. Corolla tube 1–2 by 1–1.5 mm; lobes oblong, 3.5–4 mm long, apex acute, outside glabrous, inside densely villous between mouth of corolla tube and middle lobes. Longistylous flowers: filament 0.8–1 mm long, villous; anther oblong, 0.8–1 mm long; style 4–4.5 mm long, slightly pubescent; stigma linear, 0.8–1 mm long. Brevistylous flowers: filament 2–3 mm long, villous; anther oblong, 1–1.2 mm long; disc glabrous; ovary glabrous; style 1–1.5 mm long, slightly pubescent; stigma linear, 0.8–1 mm long. Capsules subglobose, 3–4 by 2–3 mm. Seeds 15–30 per locule, 0.3–0.5 by 0.3–0.5 mm.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Rai (Doi Tung, Mae Sai).


Distribution : India (Assam), Bangladesh (type), Nepal, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, China (Yunnan).


Ecology : Hill evergreen forests, mossy forests open place and secondary evergreen forests, 0–1,300 m alt. Flowering. June–November.


Vernacular : Kamlung hua laman bai kliang (กำลังหัวละมานใบเกลี้ยง).


Notes: This species is distinguisted by having inconspicuous lateral leaf veins and stipules with one lobe.
