Description : Tree ca 20 cm tall; young twigs glabrous. Stipules oblong to lanceolate, 3–4 by 2 mm, apex acute, outside hairy, inside glabrous, caducous. Leaves: petioles 3–5 cm long, glabrous; rachis 2–7 cm long, shallowly grooved above or terete, glabrous; ultrajugal part up to 2 cm long. Leaflets 5–9, opposite: petiolules 4–5 mm long, sparsely hairy; lamina elliptic to ovate, 6–17 by 2–5.5 cm, apex acute to caudate, base cuneate, both surfaces glabrous; lateral veins 7–12 pairs; stipels absent. Inflorescences pseudoracemes or pseudopanicles 8–10(30) cm long, axillary and terminal, glabrous. Brachyblasts absent or present, each bearing 1–2 flowers per node; bracts ovate, minute, apex acute, margin hairy, outside hairy, inside glabrous; bracteoles similar to bracts but smaller, inserted on pedicel; pedicels 8–9 mm long, glabrous. Calyx tube ca 2 mm long; lobes minutely teeth, indistinct, apex acute, margin hairy, both sides glabrous. Corolla greenish white to pale purple; standard orbicular, 9–10 by 8–9 mm, apex emarginate, base inflexed auriculate without basal callosities, both sides glabrous, claw ca 2.5 mm long; wings oblong, ca 7 by 2.5–3 mm, base slightly auriculate, apex obtuse, both sides glabrous, claw ca 3.5 mm long; keel falcate to oblong, ca 6 by 2.5 mm, apex rounded, margin entire, both sides glabrous; lateral pocket ca 2.5 mm long, claw 4 mm long. Stamens monadelphous, staminal tube 7–8 mm long, glabrous; filaments 2 mm long, glabrous; anthers oblong, ca 0.8 by 0.2 mm. Disc absent. Ovary hairy, 6 mm long, 5–6-ovuled; style ca 5 mm long, glabrous. Pods winged along the sutures, oblong, laterally compressed, woody, 6–15 by 2.5 cm, glabrous; wings ca 5 mm high, perpendicular to valves of pod. Seeds orbicular, ca 1.5 by 1.2 cm.

Distribution : Myanmar (type).


Ecology : Scattered in partly opened by streams, lower valleys in evergreen forests, open places at the base of limestone hills, 25–320 m alt. Flowering: February–April; fruiting: May–June.


Vernacular : Thop thaep (ถอบแถบ)(Peninsular).
