Description : Tree 10–15 m tall. Stipules falcate to oblong, ca 4 by 1.5 mm, caducous, both sides hairy. Leaves: petioles 2–5 cm long, sparsely hairy, glabrescent; rachis 3–6 cm long, glabrescent. Leaflets 5–7, opposite; petiolules 3–5 mm long, glabrous when mature; lamina elliptic-ovate to lanceolate, 6–13 by 3–4 cm, apex acute to caudate, base cuneate, margin entire, both surfaces sparsely hairy when young, glabrescent; lateral veins 6–10 pairs; stipels absent. Inflorescences pseudoracemes 5–10 cm long, axillary, glabrescent. Flowers 1–3 per node. Brachyblasts absent; bracts minute, ovate, ca 1.2 by 1 mm, apex acute, margin hairy, outside hairy, inside glabrous; bracteoles minute, inserted on pedicels, persistent; pedicels 9–10 mm long, glabrous. Calyx tube ca 2 mm long; lobes minute, dark purple or red, apex acute, margin densely hairy, otherwise glabrous. Corolla dark purple; standard purple, orbicular, 9–10 by 9–10 mm, with basal callosities, apex emarginate, base auriculate, forming basal callosities, margin inflexed, both sides glabrous, claw ca 2 mm long; wings oblong, ca 8 by 4 mm, base auriculate, apex rounded, both sides glabrous, claw ca 2 mm long; keel oblong, ca 7 by 4 mm, apex rounded, base inauriculate, both sides glabrous, claw ca 3 mm long. Stamens monadelphous with basal fenestrae, ca 1.5 mm long; staminal tube 7–8 mm long, glabrous; filaments 2–2.5 mm long; anthers oblong, ca 1 by 0.4 mm. Disc absent. Ovary sparsely hairy at base, upper glabrous, ca 7 mm long, 4-ovuled, sessile; style ca 3 mm long, glabrous. Pods strap-shaped, thinly winged and crested in upper part, 10–18 by 2–2.5 cm, glabrous; wings less than 0.5 mm wide, perpendicular to valves, sometimes degenerating when pod mature. Seeds 1–5, slightly orbicular, 1–1.5 by 1–1.2 cm.

Distribution : Cambodia, Vietnam (type).
Ecology : Evergreen forests, 0–50 m alt. Flowering: March–April; fruiting: May–July.
Vernacular : Than phai lin (ธารไพลิน).
