Description : Climber or scandent shrub; bark longitudinally fissured, dark greenish grey. Leaves ovate to elliptic, 5–8 by 2–4.5 cm, base obtuse, rarely acute, apex acute to acuminate, margin almost entire to serrate at apical parts, subcoriaceous, venation pinnate, midrib abaxially glabrous, lateral veins 8–13 on each side; petiole 0.2–1 cm long, minutely hairy or glabrous. Inflorescences 15–25 cm long; peduncles densely yellowish green pubescent. Flowers 5-merous, 2–2.5 mm in diam., greenish yellow; pedicels 1–2 mm long, pubescent. Hypanthium cup-shaped, pubescent. Sepals narrowly triangular, apex acute, abaxially pubescent. Petals broadly obovate, yellowish green. Disc thin, lining hypanthium, glabrous. Ovary deeply immersed in disc, 2-locular, glabrous; style 2-cleft. Fruit a samara; fruit body subglobose, 7–9 mm in diam., about ⅓ of length enclosed by remnants of hypanthium; fruit wing narrowly elliptic to oblong, to 4 cm long, apex minutely pointed with remnants of style, glabrous.
Thailand : EASTERN: Chaiyaphum (Ban Yang), Nakhon Ratchasima (Huai Thalaeng), Surin; CENTRAL: Saraburi (Mae Nam Sak, Muak Lek); SOUTH-EASTERN: Sa Kaeo (Arunya Prathet), Rayong (Ban Phe).
Distribution : China, Laos, Vietnam (type), Cambodia.
Ecology : Common on limestone in dry evergreen forests, at sea level.
Vernacular : Khruea khao klaep (เครือเขาแกลบ)(Chaiyaphum); praya dap hak (พญาดาบหัก)(Nakhon Ratchasima); thao khan lek (เถาคันเหล็ก)(Saraburi); kraprok chang (กระปรอกช้าง), khruea khao klaep (เครือเขาแกลบ).
