Description : Woody climbers or shrubs, up to 10 m tall, monoecious; young twigs pubescent. Stipules subulate, 0.3–0.8 cm long, densely hairy. Leaves narrowly elliptic to elliptic (to slightly ovate), 7–17 by 2.5–6 cm, base cuneate, apex acuminate, thin-chartaceous, dark green, upper surface darker than the lower, usually dark brown when dry, strigose on primary and occasionally secondary veins of upper leaf surface, on primary and secondary veins of lower leaf surface, on leaf margin, and on petioles, sometimes hairs scattered throughout lower laminar surface, secondary veins in 4–8 pairs; petioles 0.3–0.5 cm long. Inflorescences axillary, cymose, shortly pedunculate, ca 1 mm, appearing glomerulous. Flowers whitish or yellow. Sepals ovate or elliptic or narrowly oblong, 2–2.5 by 0.7–1.2 mm, densely pubescent outside. Petals much longer than sepals, whitish or yellow, spatulate, ca 4 by 1.6 mm at widened tip, bifid for 0.7–1 mm or more. Stamens ca 4 mm long, as long as petals; anthers 0.6 mm long. Ovary with 3 locules, whitish erect bristle-like hairs; style slender, ca 4 mm long, glabrous, shortly trifid or bifid. Infructescence with 1 or 2 drupes on an enlarged peduncle and pedicel, plus a few to several circular pedicel scars. Drupes with 1–2(–3) locules developed, obliquely obovate (1–1.65 by 0.75–1.2 cm), bilobed (1.1–1.8 by 1.2–1.8 cm), or trilobed, yellow, becoming dark brown with erect pointed and rounded bristles when dry.

Thailand : SOUTH-WESTERN: Phetchaburi (Kaeng Krachan); SOUTH-EASTERN: Chanthaburi (Khao Sabap, Khao Soi Dao, Phlio, Khitchakut Falls); PENINSULAR: Ranong, Surat Thani (Ko Samui), Phuket (Phra Thaeo), Krabi (Nong Khon), Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang (Khao Chong), Narathiwat.

Distribution : China (Guandong, Guangxi, Hainan), Myanmar (type), Indochina, Malaysia.

Ecology : Evergreen forests, scrub, hill dipterocarp forests (one specimen), 10–700 m alt.

Notes: Global Plants (plants.jstor.org) mistakenly lists the lectotype of Dichapetalum baillonii Pierre as being from Thailand. However, the specimens are from the island of Phú Quốc, Vietnam, in the Gulf of Thailand. No specimens were seen from Thailand. Leenhouts (1957) synonymizes D. baillonii with D. longipetalum (Turcz.) Engl., but I am not convinced of the synonymy.
