Description : Tree, 15–30 m tall; twigs 5–10 mm diam., with ca 0.1 mm long hairs, glabrescent; often with lenticels; thorns absent. Leaves: petiole stout, ca 2 by 0.4–0.5 cm; lamina early glabrescent, broadly elliptic, or obovate, or oblong, 20–25 by (6–)10–13 cm, base shortcuneate or rounded, symmetric, apex short acute-acuminate; veins all pinnate, 9–15(–20) on each side; intercostal venation thin, reticulate-scalariform. Inflorescences minutely hairy, as long as or rather shorter than the petioles, sessile or with 0.5(–1) cm long peduncle, fewbranched, with up to 20 flowers. Flowers: pedicel 2–6 mm long; corolla in bud 10–15 mm long, apex usually broadly rounded; ovary and calyx ca 5 mm long; limb ca 1 mm long, 5–7 mm wide, margin straight or hardly dentate; petals 6, minutely hairy outside glabrous inside, 10–15 mm long; stamens 6, filaments short and wide, concave, ca 5 mm long, hairy mainly at apex, anthers ca 10 mm long, connective glabrous; style ± hairy, stigma conical, longer than broad. Fruit 1 or 2 per infructescence, ellipsoid, glabrescent, 3.5(–4) cm long, deeply (10–)12-ridged and grooved.

Distribution : Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore (type), Borneo.
Ecology : Scattered in evergreen forests, 160 m alt. Flowering: March and April; fruit not known from Thailand.
