Description : Tree, 15–25 m tall, buttresses at base, bole tapering; resin dirty yellow. Indumentum pale brown or reddish brown shortly fine tufted tomentose on twigs, stipules, petioles, midrib above, inflorescences and flower buds. Twigs quickly glabrous. Buds ovoid, ca 4 mm long. Stipules oblong to oblanceolate, 4–8 by 1–2 mm. Leaves oblong, lanceolate to oblanceolate, 5.5–13 by 2–4.5 cm, sparsely tomentose to glabrescent on lower surface; base cuneate to obtuse; apex acuminate, tip retuse; secondary nerves 8–15 on each side, arching near the margin, with several intermediate nerves; tertiary nerves subreticulate; midrib slightly raised above; petioles 0.5–1.2 cm long. Inflorescences 1.5–5 cm long, branchlets very short, congested, bearing 1–2 flowers; flower buds lanceolate, ca 0.7–1 by 0.2 cm; pedicels 2–5 mm long. Calyx lobes subequal, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, 2–3 by 1–1.3 mm. Petals oblanceolate-falcate, 1–1.2 by 0.4–0.5 cm, white or cream with pinkish edge, fragrant. Stamens typical; filaments ca as long as anthers; anthers ca 0.5 mm long; connective-appendages ca as long as anthers or slightly longer. Ovary conical, 1–1.3 by 1–1.5 mm, tomentose; style slender, ca equal to ovary length; stigma typical. Fruiting calyx lobes equally accrescent, elliptic to ovate, 1–3 by 0.5–1.5 cm, thickened, fused to the nut at base, reflexed, beaked, revolute at base, glabrous, veins 5–7; fruit pedicels stout to ca 5 mm long. Nut turbinate, 1.7–3 by 1.5–4 cm, apex acute; pericarp corky, minutely verrucose, pale brown; style remnant 0.3–1 cm long.

Distribution : Peninsular Malaysia (type).
Ecology : Evergreen forests, lowland to hillsides, to 850 m alt. Flowering: January–May; fruiting: January–July.
Vernacular : Sak pik (สักปีก), luk khang (ลูกข่าง).
