Description : Deciduous tree, to 30 m tall; branchlets smooth, brownish green, glabrous; hibernating buds absent or small, ovoid, dark brown, covered by ca 4 pairs of imbricate scales. Leaves palmately lobed, usually lobed above the middle, leaf blade 10–13, only slightly longer than wide, usually 3-clefted with 5 conspicuous major veins (sometimes 4- or 5-clefted in young shoots), subcoriaceous, above deep green, glabrous, below pale green, wilting yellow to yellowish brown with tufts of brown hairs present in the 1 and 2 order vein axils, basal lobes usually triangular-ovate with acuminate apex, middle lobe triangular-ovate with acuminate apex, base rounded, margin entire or remotely, toothed; petiole glabrous, 4–6.4 cm long. Inflorescence paniculate, elongate and pendulous, 10–23 cm long. Flower: sepals 5, yellowish green; petals 5, white; stamens red. Infructescence drooping with 9–13 fruits reaching maturity. Fruit glabrous, 4.2–4.8 cm long, brownish yellow at maturity; pedicel 1.3–1.8 cm long, mericarps slightly veined, glabrous, ca 1 cm by 5–7 mm; wings greenish to brownish yellow at maturity, spreading at obtuse angles of 140–160 degrees.
Thailand : NORTHERN: Nan (type: Pooma et al. 1447, holotype -A, isotypes -BKF CMU).
Distribution : Endemic to Doi Phu Kha National Park.
Ecology : Scattered on steep slopes in shady ravines in lower montane rain forests, 1,100–1,700 m alt. Flowering: November; fruiting: February–March.
Vernacular : Kuam phu kha (ก่วมภูคา).
Conservation Status: Least concern (Gibbs and Chen 2009).
