Description : Flowering shoots entirely glabrous except for the calli on the labellum, 60–90 cm tall. Pseudobulbs ovoid. Foliage leaves 2–3, lanceolate, acuminate, 30–50 by 2.5–4 cm; petioles 10–20 cm long. Inflorescences lax; sterile bracts 2–4, lanceolate-oblong, acute, sometimes purple tinged, 1.6–2 cm long; rachis elongating to about 22 cm, ca 10-flowered; floral bracts ovate, obtuse, 10–12 by ca 13 mm. Flowers 40–65 mm in diameter; yellow, labellum with red markings. Sepals oblong, acute, 20–25 by 10–12 mm. Petals elliptic, acute, 20–25 by 11–14 mm. Labellum 3-lobed, ca 22 by 32 mm; mid-lobe narrowly oblong and somewhat pointed, indistinctly wider in the upper part, obtuse, ca 16 by 4 mm; side lobes erect, to 15 by 4.5 mm; disk ornamented by terete twin-calli, clavate, basally joined, 4 mm tall. Column curved, 15–18 mm long. Ovary (including pedicel) ca 30 mm long. Capsule not seen. [Description mainly drafted from the Thai specimen].

Distribution : Peninsular Malaysia (type), Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Lesser Sunda Islands, Sulawesi, ?New Guinea.


Ecology : Terrestrial, habitat unknown, 1,490 m alt. Flowering: May.


Main
