Distribution : Vietnam.
Ecology : Terrestrial in dry evergreen forests, often near streams, 500–1,300 m alt. Flowering: November–January, also September.

Notes: This species is very similar to Phaius indigoferus Hassk. from Java and Peninsular Malaysia, differing mainly in the orientation and colouring of the labellum side lobes and in its truncate labellum mid-lobe. The former two of these differences are difficult to see in herbarium material. Although the available herbarium material is generally not in a good condition, no Thai specimens referable to P. indigoferus have been seen.
