Description : Flowering shoots 15–25 cm tall; rhizome terete, slender, 3–4 cm in diameter. Pseudobulbs cylindric, 4–5 cm by 2–4 mm. Foliage leaves ovate to ovate-oblong, 10–15 by 5–7 cm, apex acute, base rounded or cordate, lamina green with purple patches; petiole 1–2 cm long, base covered with sheaths. Inflorescence glabrous, to 15 cm long; peduncle 12–18 cm long, with 2–4 membranous sheaths at base; rachis 4–5 cm long; floral bracts ovate-lanceolate, 1–1.5 cm long, apex acuminate. Flowers 4–6, suberect; pedicel and ovary subtwisted, 0.8–1.5 cm long. Sepals green, dorsal sepal oblong-lanceolate, 10–13 by 2.5–3 mm, apex acute, 4- to 5-nerved; lateral sepals falcate-oblong, more or less of the same size as dorsal sepal. Petals green, oblong lanceolate, 10–11 by 2–2.5 mm, apex acute to acuminate. Labellum 3-lobed, obcordate-obovate, 9–13 by 9–12 mm, epichile white, hypochile light yellow, with bright yellow median ornaments and reddish-purple stripes on each side; side lobes deltoid, obtuse to rounded, 2–4 mm long, much shorter than mid-lobe. Column light yellow, 5–8 mm long, slightly dilated towards apex, with triangular teeth on both sides near apex; column foot with a cylindric green spur.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Phitsanulok (Phu Hin Rong Kla); EASTERN: Nakhon Ratchasima (Khao Yai); SOUTH-WESTERN: Phetchaburi (Kaeng Krachan); PENINSULAR: Surat Thani (Ban Don).


Distribution : Myanmar, S China (type), Taiwan, Vietnam.


Ecology : Tropical evergreen forests, hill evergreen forests; 700–1,200 m alt. Flowering: July–August.


Vernacular : Ueang son aep chin (เอื้องซ่อนแอบจีน).
