Description : [Sect. Speciosae Lindl.]. Pseudobulbs to 1.5 cm apart, (elongated) ovoid, more or less tetragonal, 4–8 by 2–4 cm. Leaf 1, herbaceous; petiole 3.5–9 cm; lamina obovate-lanceolate to long-elliptic, 20–37 by 4–10 cm, acuminate; 3- to 5-nerved, midrib prominent. Inflorescence synanthous, pendulous; peduncle 7–15 cm; rachis 2–6 cm, internodes 1.6–2.3 cm. Floral bracts caducous. Flowers 1–4, open in succession, 5–8 cm in diameter, glabrous; sepals and petals pale pink to salmon, labellum inside dull dark brown to very dark bluish-brown. Dorsal sepal parallel to the column, elliptic to oblong, 43–56 by 16–24 mm, acute. Lateral sepals ovate oblong, 40–60 by 13–23 mm, acute. Petals linear, 42–55 by 2–3.5 mm, acute. Labellum 3-lobed, 36–52 by 35–50 mm; side lobes semi-elliptic, in front with rounded top, sinus 3.5–5.5 mm; mid lobe spathulate to suborbicular, 13–21 by 18–21 mm, with scattered tiny warts, margins slightly erose, top retuse to rounded, apex triangular; ornaments of 2 keels, undulating, ending halfway along the mid-lobe. Column 25–39 mm; apex notched.


Thailand : SOUTH-EASTERN: Trat; PENINSULAR: Ranong (Khlong Nakha), Phangnga, Krabi (Khao Phanom Bencha), Trang (Khao Sung), Satun (Khao Khiao range).


Distribution : Peninsular Malaysia (type).


Ecology : Lowland and montane evergreen forests; 700–1,900 m alt. Flowering: March–April.
