Description : [Sect. Tomentosae Pfitzer]. Pseudobulbs close together, more or less ovoid, 4.5–10 by 2.3 cm. Leaves 2, herbaceous; petiole 3–13 cm; lamina obovate to (long) elliptic, 16–38 by 3.5–10.5 cm, acuminate; (5- to) 7-nerved, midrib prominent. Inflorescence heteranthous; peduncle short, hidden in persistent scale leaves; rachis 20–60 cm, densely hairy with velutinous hairs, internodes 1.5–3.5 cm. Floral bracts persistent, ovate to suborbicular, 15–28 by 13–27 mm, acute to rounded. Flowers 8–26, open simultaneously, 4.5–5 cm in diameter, glabrous except pedicel and ovary; sepals, petals and column pink or cream-colour, labellum pale pink or white, inside brown but median white, veins on side lobes broad and white or pinkish, keels white or yellowish, mid-lobe with a brown margin. Dorsal sepal more or less parallel to the column, narrowly elliptic, 25–33 by 6–11 mm, acute. Lateral sepals narrowly elliptic, 25–33 by 6–10 mm, acute. Petals narrowly elliptic, 25–32 by 3–8 mm, acute. Labellum 3-lobed, 22–26 by 16–20 mm; side lobes in front with rounded top, sinus 0.1–0.2 mm; mid-lobe ovate to almost orbicular, 6–9 by 6–10 mm, margins more or less entire, top broadly acute; ornaments of 3 keels, continuing to 3/4 of mid-lobe, at base high, serrate, continuing lower, shorter serrate, on mid-lobe higher, serrate, with 0, 2 or 4 additional keels. Column 16–21 mm long, winged; apex irregular.


Thailand : PENINSULAR: Krabi (Khao Phanom Bencha), Nakhon Si Thammarat (Khao Luang – type: van Beusekom & Phengklai 957, holotype -L, isotypes -BKF C E K P), Pattani (Khao Kalakhiri), Yala (Betong).


Distribution : Peninsular Malaysia.


Ecology : Evergreen lowland and lower montane forests, sometimes lithophytic on rocks; 800–1,950 m alt. Flowering: February–May, July–August and October.
